About Scale For Sustainability Collective
Scale For Sustainability Collective (SS-COLLECTIVE) was founded in 2022 by Khadija Abdulrahim, building on her extensive experience in the childcare sector with Catholic Relief Services. In that role, she collaborated with global, regional, national and local partners to strengthen the capacity of organizations and government entities in delivering sustainable child protection services for vulnerable children.
Through this work, Khadija witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of investing in local leadership. Inspired by the principle of solutions created with the people, by the people and for the people, she developed a deep commitment to strengthening the capacity of local organizations. SS Collective embodies this vision—championing locally led, sustainable childcare solutions that empower communities and nurture resilient human capital.
SS Collective is committed not only to answering why local capacity strengthening matters, but also to demonstrating how it can be achieved. While many local organizations express interest in supporting childcare, the transformative potential of collective local action remains underutilized. SS Collective seeks to change this by empowering local expertise to take the lead—designing and driving effective, efficient and sustainable childcare solutions. By harnessing the power of community-led innovation, SS Collective aims to create lasting impact in childcare and strengthen local human capital for generations to come.
